Angstroms in LaTeX

LaTeX has an Angstroms symbol command, \AA . However, the command italicizes the A, and the symbol doesn't even show up when I try to compile it (output as Postscript).

From here:

$\buildrel_\circ\over{\mathrm{A}}$

It works! (Even if it's a tad long to type every time.)

A shorter workaround in math mode:
$\mathrm{\mathring{A}}$

(See, \AA works fine - in text mode. Not in math mode. Sigh.)
